For example, the largest known worm is the net anemone (Lineus longissimus), which lives in the deep sea. This worm can reach a length of up to 55 meters, although its body is only a few millimeters thick.

Other types of worms, such as roundworms and tapeworms, can also grow to impressive sizes. For example, the largest tapeworm, the long wide striped worm (Diphyllobothrium latum), can reach a length of up to 10 meters.

However, most of the worms that are parasites of humans and animals are much more modest in size. For example, an adult roundworm of enterobiasis (Enterobius vermicularis) has a size of about 1 cm.

The biggest worm ever taken out of a human

The largest worm that can be found in humans is the trematode Fasciolopsis buski, which lives in the human intestine. This worm can reach a length of up to 75 cm and a width of up to 5 cm. It is common in Southeast Asia, where infected people can feed on infected fish and aquatic plants.

It is also worth mentioning that long chains of tenid (lint) can reach several meters in length, but they are usually only discovered after they are deposited inside the body and they begin to pass into the stool.

Is there a worm museum anywhere in the world?

Some museums are dedicated to the study and display of parasites, including worms. One such museum is the Helminth Museum located in Tokyo, Japan. This museum was established in 1955 and is part of Tokai University. The museum houses over 60,000 exhibits, including worms, fleas, ticks and other parasites. It is used for research and educational purposes as well as for the public.

Another museum dedicated to worms is located in Prague, Czech Republic. This is the Museum of Parasitology, which is part of the Charles University in Prague. The museum houses over 20,000 artifacts, including worms and other parasites, as well as tools used to study parasites.

It is also worth noting that some natural history museums may have collections of worms and other parasites, as they play an important role in ecology and animal health.

Is it possible to grow worms in captivity?

Yes, worms can be raised in captivity if the right conditions are created for them. However, this practice is usually used only for scientific purposes, to study their biology, parasitic properties and treatment.

There are many methods for rearing worms in captivity, depending on the type of worm and the purpose of the study. For example, worms can be grown in artificially created conditions, such as thermostatically controlled incubators with a certain temperature and humidity, using artificial nutrient media, and so on.

However, raising worms in captivity for personal use is not recommended, as this may involve the risk of infection and transmission of the infection to other people or animals. Also, it may be illegal in some countries, so you should check with the relevant organizations and legislation before any experiment.
