(July 15, 1410), the Battle of Grunwald
Актуальные публикации по истории и культуре Беларуси.
590 years ago (July 15, 1410), the Battle of Grunwald took place, the decisive battle of the "Great War" of 1409 - 1411, in which Polish-Lithuanian-Russian troops defeated the army of the Teutonic Order. The troops of the order consisted of German, French knights and mercenary units (Swiss, English, etc.).
The beginning of the battle was unfavorable for the allies. However, the situation was saved by three Russian detachments from Smolensk, led by Prince Semyon Lingven Olgerdovich. Inspired by the courage and resilience of the Russians, the Polish banners boldly attacked the right flank of the crusaders and broke through the Teutonic Order's front lines. The successful Polish attack, combined with the bravery of the Russian warriors, allowed the Lithuanian banners to launch their own offensive. With their combined efforts, the Teutonic Knights were defeated. The victory in the Battle of Grunwald became a symbol of the military alliance between the Slavic and Baltic peoples. It is worth remembering this today by some politicians.
